Our wines
VerdeVios is a certified organic estate in the Nizza area of Piedmont — the heart of Italy's most renowned country for the red Barbera grape. Every wine we make comes from organically grown Barbera from our own vineyards.
The Nizza area
For generations, Barbera was the everyday red of Monferrato. That changed in 2014, when Nizza became its own DOCG — shedding its former status as a sub-zone of Barbera d'Asti and standing on its own. It covers eighteen communes around the town of Nizza Monferrato and must be made from 100% Barbera. Our estate at Castel Boglione lies within this zone. Syrah QueenAmistapiedmontwine
Barbera here is bottled at several levels, each with its own rules. These are the classifications we work in:
Barbera d'Asti DOCG
The classic style — bright acidity and red-fruit character, made to be drunk with food.
Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG
A stricter selection with more structure. It requires a minimum alcohol of 12.5% and fourteen months' ageing, six of them in wood.
Nizza DOCG
100% Barbera from the Nizza zone, and our most structured red. Minimum ageing is eighteen months, six of them in barrel.
Nizza Riserva DOCG
The longest-aged expression. A minimum of thirty months' ageing, twelve of them in cask.
[status — edit] Amistapiedmontwine
Metodo Classico Rosé
A sparkling rosé of Barbera, made by the traditional bottle-fermentation method.
Where to buy
In Norway, our wines are sold through Vinmonopolet. One is listed today, with more on the way — see the links above. Visits and tastings at the estate will follow once the necessary approvals are in place.
